Final Fantasy XVI is available to play right now, and over the years of waiting on this next installment, there were bound to be some players that were letdown. Not every game installment or franchise will meet your expectations. But some players can take things too far. Rather than deliver helpful criticisms about the game and what they would like to see improved on, they point at the developers themselves. We all know some toxic people, I’m sure, so it shouldn’t come to much of a surprise that developers are also dealing with these individuals regularly. But for one producer, the fanbase’s toxic side is growing too much.
Thanks to Tech4Gamers, we’re finding out that there was a mini-documentary with the Japanese development team who worked on Final Fantasy XVI. Again, with such a big RPG name and long-running franchise, there was quite a bit of attention put into this game. Some fans enjoyed it, while others didn’t. But thanks to a translated tweet on Twitter, we see one clip featuring Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida. Looking over the comments, Naoki stated that he found it weird how some people will yell at you that you’ve never met or talked with before. The producer went on to say that some of the negative comments come from a place of malice, and as a result, he was growing tired of reading them.
Again, this is nothing new in the video game industry. In fact, it was just this month that the team from Bungie swore off Reddit. Before, it was a place where Bungie representatives for Destiny 2 could gather with players and discuss the game or gain feedback for the development team. However, it has since grown into a chaotic mess, with some developers being targeted by harassment. That was enough for Bungie to no longer engage with players through Reddit, and it’s not likely that this will change anytime soon.
Meanwhile, we don’t know what exactly is next for Final Fantasy XVI. The game doesn’t have any post-launch content planned or at least announced yet. Some fans are hopeful that DLC could be coming for the game soon. Otherwise, the developers might be chipping away at bringing a port of Final Fantasy XVI into the PC platform. When the team at Square Enix developed the game, it was completely optimized for the PlayStation 5 hardware, so we know that this would be a port that will take quite a bit of time before it’s released into the market. With that said, if you haven’t played the game yet and own a PlayStation 5, then check out our Before You Buy coverage of the title within the video we have embedded below.
