The PS VR2 is out in the world, and many people will wonder how it does in terms of its lifetime sales. But until that verdict can be reached, many developers will work hard to deliver memorable experiences to those with the headset. To that end, the team at First Contact Entertainment is bringing the fire and fury via their upcoming title Firewall Ultra. The game is a follow-up to their hit first-person shooter, and they’re looking to bring even more to the table with its next game. On the PlayStation Blog, they dropped a new gameplay trailer and told fans what to expect from these gameplay announcements.
The team is very proud of the various features you’ll be able to use via the headset to give you a truly immersive gameplay experience. For example, if a flashbang is thrown at you, you can close your eyes to ignore the blinding effect. The headset will mimic you closing your eyes and has precision tracking to ensure you’re always looking where you want to look.
They also broke down the main game mode for players who are just finding out about the franchise:
“The primary PvP game mode called Contracts pits two teams of four against each other in a best-of-three series of matches that feature tense tactical combat across a variety of maps. In each match a defending team must protect a laptop full of classified intel using an assortment of gadgets and weaponry while the attacking team attempts to bypass the security access points and hack the laptop. Attackers need to tread carefully around maps and work as a team to decrypt the intel before time expires.”
“Immersion” is something that First Contact Entertainment tried to bring forth in many respects. They didn’t just want you to “feel” like you were there via your character’s movement through the headset but through the look and feel of the world itself. They used the Unreal Engine 5 to have the best possible textures and lighting so that you never know what’s awaiting ahead.
They also made sure the controls were intuitive and that you could use them to get fun kills, like spinning a knife around your hand before doing a killing blow.
Unsurprisingly, if you pre-order Firewall Ultra, you’ll get plenty of bonuses, such as weapons, gear, and being able to play as four characters earlier than others. The game arrives on August 24th.
