If you haven’t watched The Super Mario Bros. Movie by now, then chances are you might be keen on watching this movie when it lands on a streaming platform. Those who are waiting in that boat for the film to be a bit more convenient to watch through streaming might be delighted to know that we know just when we’ll finally get a look at the movie. Thanks to a new report by Deadline, we know that this film will be landing on the Peacock streaming service this August.
While it’s not Netflix, HBO, or even Amazon Prime, those that have a subscription to Peacock will be the first to catch this film on streaming. This title surprised audiences and managed to bring in quite an astonishing box office. Bringing in over $1 billion worldwide through the box office, The Super Mario Bros. Movie was not only one of the biggest successful films to release this year but also landed in some impressive lists, such as being the third-highest-grossing animated film along with being the fifteenth-highest-grossing film of all time. So, needless to say, we’ll likely see Nintendo continue throwing these animated films out into the marketplace.
But as mentioned, we know just when we can get this film on our Peacock streaming services. According to Deadline, the movie will be available through Peacock on August 3, 2023. That would also come packed with videos of behind-the-scenes cast interviews, among other bonus features to entertain fans. Of course, now the question is just when we can expect another installment to release based on this classic video game hit.
Without spoiling the fun to be had if you haven’t already watched the animated film, this movie follows two brothers, Mario and Luigi, who started a plumbing business. However, upon fixing a water main leak, the duo gets sucked in. Now separated and transported to this new magical Mushroom Kingdom, Mario sets off to find his brother and learn about this unusual place. We won’t spoil anything more, but with as big of a hit this film is, we imagine that even if you caught the movie in theaters, you’re more than welcome to catch it again when it starts to stream next month.
Meanwhile, if you’re after a new Mario game to scratch that itch Nintendo put on us from this film, we have a new installment coming out. Nintendo is delivering a Super Mario Bros. Wonder video game later this year in October. If you haven’t caught that trailer yet, then we have it available to watch down below.
