Sony has unveiled the first trailer for the newest iteration of The Show series, MLB 12. In it, the trailer shows off some of the ultra realistic fielding and base running mechanics, which I personally believe to look incredibly fantastic. It also teases Move and Vita integration during a few moments of the video.
MLB 12 The Show is set to hit shelves on March 6th.
I'm a baseball fanatic myself (I'm also Canadian, which makes me a rare breed), so I am extremely excited for this title. It will likely be the most authentic baseball experience gamers can get based this impressive trailer.
However, not all is dandy in the world of baseball gaming.
The future of the MLB 2K series, its only competitor, is uncertain, as 2K's Major League Baseball deal will expire in 2012. It will be interesting to see what direction MLB and gaming will be taking in light of this news. This has potential to become an issue for a few reasons: 1) It's always good to have a competitor and 2) The 2K series is the only baseball experience Xbox 360 owners have available to them.
If the 2K series does go under, let's hope that The Show will expand to Microsoft's console.
