Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake Reportedly Not A PlayStation Exclusive

May 22, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Players can enjoy this game on multiple platforms.

There is always a never-ending line of rumors popping up for the video game industry, but some spread a bit more rapidly than others. One rumor that has taken root and spread around the web quite a bit is that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake is in the works. Of course, that’s just a rumor, as we’re still waiting on the official announcement. But today, a new report suggests that this remake will be available across multiple platforms.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson has shared a new report on the upcoming rumored Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. According to the industry insider, they have learned that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake will not be a PlayStation exclusive. There were plenty of rumors going around that when this game does get announced and released, you’ll find it only on the PlayStation console platform.

But Insider Gaming sources have stated that this won’t be the case, and instead, you can expect the game to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC platform. Although, it’s reportedly expected to make its first appearance in a brief teaser during the PlayStation Showcase event that is taking place later this week on May 24, 2023. But again, this is just said to be a teaser, so don’t expect too much showcased during this event about the game.

As for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, this game is actually a prequel to the Metal Gear series. The game takes place during an alternate timeline of the 1960s, where players follow a young soldier on a mission to infiltrate a Soviet base to stop a nuclear weapon from going off. With the game being such a massive success, there are bound to be quite a few fans that wouldn’t mind replaying this game on modern platforms.

For now, we’ll just have to wait for the PlayStation Showcase to see if the game receives an appearance. If you haven’t marked down your calendar, the PlayStation Showcase is set to take place on May 24, 2023, at 1 PM PDT. This stream will take place a little over an hour long, which should be filled with video game updates and announcements. As for the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the game was released for the PlayStation 2 with HD versions landing on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Vita platforms. Even Nintendo 3DS owners received a version of the game back in 2012 called Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D.
