Rime is an upcoming open world, adventure platform title by developers Tequila Works. The game was shown off at Gamescom in 2013 where it was revealed that Rime would be a PlayStation 4 exclusive as Sony owned the rights to the title. Now through a tweet from the official Rime Twitter account alerting its followers that the game has been acquired by Tequila Works which could mean that the game will be released outside of the PlayStation platform.
The development process of Rime has been an interesting one, to say the least. You may recall that development team Tequila Works brought Rime to Microsoft in a pitch to release Rime for the Xbox Live, but Microsoft company declined, leaving Tequila Works to approach Sony. Phil Spencer from Xbox even made mention that rejecting Rime was a mistake and that they were forced to live with that mistake.
However, since then the game has been in development with the backing of Sony for an exclusive release. That was until today when a tweet was sent out that simply stated the following.
Tequila Works has chosen to reacquire the rights to its adventure game, RiME, and is working hard to realise its aspirations for it.

For now, there is no other comments on the matter from the development team or Sony. Although this tweet suggests that now Tequila Works owns the rights with Rime, it could lead to the game releasing outside of the PlayStation 4. Currently, there is no release date scheduled for Rime quite yet and as it stands, the only confirmed platform for this titles release is PlayStation 4, but we will keep you updated on the latest.
