Those of you in the Diablo III beta test may not yet have access to the game's Runestones, which enhance existing character abilities with a variety of modifiers.
Such as it is, a skill like Exploding Palm deals 100% bonus wewapon damage with the first two strikes, with the third strike causing the target to bleed for 65% weapon damage per second for three seconds. Should the target die from bleeding damage, it will explode.
However, thanks to a sneak preview by IncGamers, we can now witness the effects of the Exploding Palm attack when it's enhanced with the Crimson, Golden, Indigo, and Alabaster runes.
The Alabaster rune causes the target to burn for fire damage instead of bleeding, causing it to explode in a blaze of glory and hurting other monsters around it upon detonation. This rune effectively turns any monster you hit into a ticking time bomb.
When you're done watching these. Find out how Runestones apply to the Demon Hunter's Grenade skill.
The Crimson rune simply increases the bleed effect from three to seven seconds, making explosions a lot more likely.
The Golden rune allows the monk to earn 4 Spirit points for every enemy hit by the death explosion, effectively replenishing the character's Spirit resource pool.
Arguably the most powerful of the lot, the Indigo rune allows the third strike from Exploding Palm to affect up to five targets instead of one. Mass explosions galore.
