Hogwarts Legacy Will Reportedly Not Allow Players To Change Their Talents Build

January 31, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Choose wisely.

There is a ton of hype around the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy title. This game has a plethora of players eagerly awaiting its release. While we still have a bit longer wait to endure, more information is making its way out. One of those new nuggets of information is the talents and abilities component. If you have been following the development and marketing of Hogwarts Legacy, you might already be familiar with this area of the game. But you might not have known that once you choose these abilities and talents, you’re stuck with them.

If you haven’t been keeping too close of attention when it comes to Hogwarts Legacy, then we have you covered. Much like other RPGs, there are character builds in Hogwarts Legacy. Players are able to make adjustments to their characters through a series of upgrades. Think of it as a skill tree where you can make upgrades to improve particular magic effectiveness or stealth. Essentially, you’ll determine how to adjust your character and their play style best. But unlike some games that allow players to change up their builds, it doesn’t appear Hogwarts Legacy will follow suit. In a recent subreddit post for Hogwarts Legacy, a QA playtester managed to shed some more light on the game.

Taylor Liddell, the son of design director Chad Liddell, was a QA tester for Hogwarts Legacy. As we’re getting closer to the launch date, Taylor has shared some details on the game. While some details are a bit brief or completely avoided, we did get some insight into Talents. One individual asked if there was a way to respec talents within the game. According to Taylor, they haven’t found a way to do so. As a result, you’ll want to choose wisely. While some games might allow this, especially if new content continues to roll in, there likely won’t be a means in Hogwarts Legacy.

Although, it is possible that we might get this feature added to the game later on. It would depend on the developers and community feedback if that were to happen. Meanwhile, we don’t have very long to wait before we’re able to dive into the game and start building out our own customized student of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

As it stands right now, Hogwarts Legacy will be available for players to pick up on February 10, 2023, for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, we also know the game will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms later in the year. For those of you who might feel this game will be severely cut down to make it on the Nintendo Switch, it seems that the developers are confident the game will launch without issues.
