The rumours for E3 are starting to heat up, no doubt we'll end up disappointed but that doesn't seem to matter. This year, the big "theory" is that at least Microsoft will be announcing their next console and MCV goes one step further, asserting that both the next PlayStation and the next Xbox will be announced in early June.
Bear in mind that they don't cite their sources, simply saying that the new consoles WILL be announced, so take it with an extreme pinch of salt. Either way, it's an interesting idea and one that will stick when it comes to press conferences this year. Expect to see "what happened to the new console announcements!" throughout the internet.
Sony have previously said that they won't be left with their next console, referencing the year's head start on the PS3 that the 360 enjoyed after its release.
