The Pokemon Company has shared the schedule for Greninja to come up in the next Tera Raid Battles for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Tera Raid Battles are a special endgame multiplayer PVE battle mode introduced in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In the lore of the game, Tera Raid Crystals appear in the area, from energy leaking into Paldea via the Great Crater, which actually originate from Area Zero.
Players find and interact one of these Tera Raid Crystals, which can be identified by the light beam that shoots up from it. There are five to seven star crystals, that reflect the difficulty level of the battle. Jacq will tell you not to participate in six star battles because of the danger inherent in the high amount of energy. Of course, this is all to emphasize that this is end game content, long after you have leveled up your Pokemon.
As mentioned, it is a multiplayer battle, and you actually have some time to look at the other players who will join the Tera Raid Battle with you, as you choose your Pokemon.
Now, the interesting thing about Tera Raid Battles is they are timed but you do not fight turn based. In fact you, your fellow players, and your opponent Pokemon are all acting at the same time.
Now, the interesting thing about Greninja’s appearance is that this is the first time players will have an opportunity to catch it in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Of course, Greninja is not native to Paldea, so it does not have an entry in the Paldea Pokedex.
While other opportunities to catch a Greninja will likely come up in the future, if you want to get one immediately, as a far or to be one of the first to get one in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, this is your chance to do so. Of course, with all that build up, this will be a seven star Tera Raid Battle.
The very first Greninja Tera Raid Battle will be happening at these times on January 26\27, 2023:
- PT – January 26 at 16:00 until January 29 at 15:59
- ET – January 26 at 19:00 until January 29 at 18:59
- GMT – January 27 at 00:00 until January 29 at 23:59
The second event will be on February 9/10, 2023, at these times:
- PT – February 9 at 16:00 until February 12 at 15:59
- ET – February 9 at 19:00 until February 12 at 18:59
- GMT – February 10 at 00:00 until February 12 at 23:59
If you’re not up to facing a seven star Greninja yet, there are also four star and five star Tera Raid Battles coming up between January 20 to 22, 2023. Pokemon Scarlet players will get to catch Drifloon and Pokemon Violet players have Mismagius.
