Atomic Heart Will Have Four Pieces Of DLC Post Launch

January 10, 2023 by Odhran Johnson

Speaking in an interview with Wccftech, Mundfish founder and Game Director for Atomic Heart Robert Bagratuni announced some more details about the four DLC packs set to release for Atomic Heart post-launch. Atomic Heart has been a title many have been highly anticipating since its reveal with the game set to launch on February 21st, 2023 for both consoles and PC along with Xbox Game Pass.

In the interview with Wccftech Bagratuni noted:

The entire Atomic Heart experience will be single-player, focusing on the story and player experience. No multiplayer add-ons are planned at this time. The DLCs are intended to greatly expand the player experience with new territories, quests, puzzles, enemies, as well as character and world stories. We plan to significantly expand both the open-world territories, as well as new complexes and labs – where the player will learn more about the Atomic Heart world and will need to complete new challenges.

Some fans may be disappointed to hear that there are no plans for multiplayer content yet in the game but given the fast-paced FPS marketing they’ve been promoting of the game recently players should be more than happy with newer additions to the gameplay loop later down the line. Additional lore and complex challenge areas are always welcome too.

Atomic Heart has unfortunately been heavily delayed since its initial announcement. Bagratuni noted that this delay was down to “youth, ambition, innovation, and new technology.”

From the beginning, we wanted to create something extraordinary, a unique game. This applies to the story and the structure of the game, as well as a lot of mechanics. Our unwanted delay can be attributed to youth, ambition, innovation, and new technology! During the development process, we made the tough choice to abandon some ideas, even very big ones, like multiplayer. It was painful to have to make those kinds of choices, but it was the right decision. You don’t have to chase trends when you create something new and innovative. Our big ambitions were not always aligned with reality, it was a tough realization and we had to adjust. I think all studios go through that process at least once.

There’s a whole lot of stuff to look forward to in Atomic Heart and according to Bagratuni, the game has “mind-blowing optimization” for last-generation consoles such as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
