Alan Wake’s Return Isn’t What You Think It Is

Alan Wake’s Return isn’t the game you think it is.

Remedy Entertainment recently filed a trademark for Alan Wake’s Return. The studio made the filing late last month, leading many to assume that the name referred to a sequel to Alan Wake currently in development.

Today, Alan Wake and Quantum Break creator Sam Lake clarified to say that Alan Wake’s Return is just a fictional TV show within Quantum Break itself. The creator is well known for inserting fictional movies and comic books in his works, including his earliest game, Max Payne. The Alan Wake’s Return TV show is said to be made up of live-action mini episodes starring Lake himself as the main character.

“A big part of the trademarking process all in all is the legalities of it,” Lake said in a brief interview with Kotaku. “Just making sure everything is covered. So, no real news about anything future Alan Wake-related.”

Lake offered some hope for fans of the series, however, stating: “Other than that, we are exploring possibilities and concepting different things, but lots needs to click into place for anything to happen. We will be the first to talk about it when there is something definite to talk about.”

We’ll keep you up to date with any developments on the Alan Wake front as it happens, if it ever happens. There’s always a chance they’ll greenlight a sequel to the horror novelist’s story.
