For what felt like ages, the Silent Hill fanbase community lived in their own little version of the otherworld. Years passed with hopes, pleas, and rumors suggesting Silent Hill was making a grand return. However, Konami would keep tightlipped with each passing year. Events would go on, and not even a mention of the once-thriving survival horror IP would happen. That finally changed back in October of 2022. Konami unveiled a Silent Hill focused video, and with it came several games reveals and even a film.
Among the variety of reveals, one game took the key focus from the event. Konami was pleased to announce that Silent Hill 2 would be getting a proper remake. If you’re entirely new to the franchise, Silent Hill 2 was one of the most iconic installments from the entire franchise. As a result, plenty of veteran fans are eager to dive back into this psychological horror narrative. Along the way, Konami is hopeful that this remake will also appeal to newcomers.
Of course, while the game was officially revealed, there might be plenty of questions you’re eager to get answered. Currently, the development team is handling the game project, but we do have some information readily available.
What’s The Story Premise In Silent Hill 2?
Silent Hill 2 is not connected to any particular game. So you don’t have to go back and play anything to understand the storyline. This title is also a remake, so you could go through the narrative from the original Silent Hill 2 video game release and already understand what our protagonist will endure. But we’ll be refraining from any spoilers in this article, so instead, we can offer a brief synopsis of what Silent Hill 2 will entail.
In Silent Hill 2, players are stepping into the role of James Sunderland. Our narrative picks up with James Sunderland outside the town of Silent Hill. We learn that James had received a letter from his wife, Mary Sunderland. In it, Mary pleas for James to visit her in the town of Silent Hill, a tourist destination the couple previously spent time together. The only problem here is that Mary died from a disease years ago.
Players will embark on a journey through the town of Silent Hill as James seeks out who sent the letter and if Mary is still alive and well. Now, this is a survival horror game with mature themes throughout. As a result, this game is intended for an older audience. Unfortunately, at the moment, we don’t have a specific release date just yet, but we should see it initially launched into the marketplace for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
