Shoto Todoroki in the Spotlight in New My Hero Academia Visual

September 26, 2022 by Todd Black

How will The Prodigy evolve?

One of the best parts about anime as a whole is that when it’s done right, you’re not just rooting for the main character but the side characters as well. Anime is legendary for giving depth to characters both big and small over time. That’s why fans know all of the Z-Fighters and their motivations or love the entire crew of Cowboy Bebop. My Hero Academia is another anime that does this very well. It would’ve been easy to focus on the adventures of Izuku Midoriya and his mentor All Might, but the team didn’t do that, instead giving screentime to many more characters. That has helped My Hero Academia Season 6 get even more hype, with plenty of viewers ready to see their favorite faces take to the small screen once again.

Instead of following the obvious path seen back in Season 1, the creative team made sure that Deku’s classmates in Class 1-A were given the spotlight from time to time. This includes the prodigy Shoto Todoroki, who quickly became a fan favorite after his backstory came to light. Fast forward to now, and Shoto’s story has gotten even deeper, and he seems to be ready to play a big role in My Hero Academia Season 6 based on the new visual that has come out for the show.

As you can see, Shoto is in his latest gear and has an interesting look on his face. How all of this will play into the sixth season is unknown, but there are teases of what is to come.

For example, Season 5 of the anime arguably put its biggest focus on Shoto. In the training arc with Class 1-B, Shoto unlocked a new level of his power and now he seeks to go even further than his father could in terms of power output. Then, in the Endeavor Agency Arc, Shoto brought Deku and Bakugo to his father’s agency so they could all train under him. This was an eye-opening experience for various reasons, not the least of which was seeing how Endeavor handled the role of No.1 Hero.

Furthermore, Endeavor sought to atone for what he had done with Shoto, as well as the rest of his family. But Shoto and his siblings weren’t so easy to forgive, and thus tensions still run high between them. This says nothing of the mysterious Dabi, who has plans for the family as well.

With the war to come, Shoto will be a big help due to his Quirk and versatility it has. How things will play with him and Endeavor will be curious to watch unfold as well.

The good news for fans is that Season 6 will premiere this Saturday, so the wait is almost over.
