Every Thanksgiving families spend time together and force more food down their throat than anyone should naturally be able to. That night though, things start to get ugly. Friends turn to foes and good intentions turn to greed as shoppers try to save a few dollars at whatever big name store they choose to occupy. This day is of course known as Black Friday. Then there’s the much safer Cyber Monday the following Monday. American Express is hoping to get you out to shop one more day that weekend with their latest shopping holiday, Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is (as you may have guessed) a day dedicated to getting shoppers to go support their locally owned shops. Many Cities have smaller Mom & Pop type stores that also sell games that depend on your support. Wal-Mart and Best Buy will do just fine without your money, the smaller stores would appreciate your business more than you could ever know. Chances are they will also be ran by someone who is truly passionate about what they’re selling. They may even be able to help you find some new games you weren’t already aware of.
Shopping at these smaller shops will also help stimulate your local economy, which is never a bad thing. So tell your friends and family to get out there on the 26th and support some local businesses. Check out the campaigns video below. (Bonus Points if you eat local after shopping)
