Since its release a week ago, Dungeon Defenders has managed to pull in 200,000 sales through Steam. The figure makes up 80% of the game’s sales, with sales on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 making up the remainder. Given the popularity of the game on the PC over its console counterparts, it’s safe to say PC gaming is far from dead.
The tower defense/action-RPG game has sold a total of 250,000 copies across all three platforms. Developer Trendy hopes to increase the sales figures of its console versions by launching a series of community events to attract the players it has not yet reached. Events include playing against the game developers and acquiring items unavailable anywhere else.
I’m slightly curious as to why they’d continue to insist on tapping on the clearly disinterested console base instead of rewarding PC gamers for their increased participation.
