Syndicate was release in 1993 and was a huge hit, spawning sequels and add-on packs aplenty. It was a Bullfrog game, of COURSE it was good. Molyneux eventually got bored of making high quality strategy games and moved on to Microsoft where he has continued doing what he does.
With a brand new Syndicate on the horizon, taking the form of a completely different genre, people will no doubt want to see where the series found its roots.
In conversation with Eurogamer, Jeff Gamon, EA Partners executive producer, spoke about the potential of a remake of the original game.
"The original was such a classic. There is scope to remake it," Jeff Gamon, EA Partners executive producer, told Eurogamer.
"But I don't think it necessarily has to be exactly the same genre. If we did there are probably other platforms which are more suitable for it than the consoles we're making it for, if we wanted to go in that more strategic route, that perspective.
"I would love to see Syndicate as a true franchise again, bringing it back and expanding it out onto whatever platforms it's suitable for."
