EA has unveiled the first look at Pro Clubs in FIFA 23. The mode is one of the more popular elements of recent FIFA titles. The new deep dive trailer gives fans a good look at the new features and improvements for this year’s entry in the series. Check out the trailer below.
The Pro Clubs deep dive should go some way to reassuring fans of the mode who have accused EA of not paying it enough attention. Fans of Pro Clubs were angered when EA announced that it would not be included in FIFA 23‘s new crossplay feature while other modes like Ultimate Team and Volta will receive the crossplay treatment. However, the new features revealed by EA in the deep dive represent one of the biggest updates to Pro Clubs since it was introduced.
New features include improvements to Drop-Ins, shared seasonal progression with Volta, and new Skill Games to earn XP for players’ Virtual Pros.
Drop-Ins in FIFA 23 will feature shortened halves to provide a more exciting and engaging experience for players where every possession matters more than in previous games. In another change, games that are tied at the end of 90 minutes will now go to Golden Goal. Teams will get two halves of Golden Goal extra time instead of penalties. If the teams are still tied after the end of 120 minutes, then the game will end in a tie. EA hopes that this addition will spice up Drop-In games where the teams are evenly matched.
For the first time, players will be able to share their Pro Clubs and Volta progression, as both modes are now intertwined. Players will now be able to earn XP for their Virtual Pro in Volta and Pro Clubs. That means every game played in Volta will now earn players Pro Clubs XP for when they head back into that mode. EA says it wants players to be able to play with friends in both modes and still feel like they are progressing.
In fact, Pro Clubs’ progression is one of the key areas that EA has aimed to improve in FIFA 23 after listening to fan feedback. EA listed three areas where players have said they had issues with Pro Clubs in FIFA 22:
- “Maxing out your level required too much effort.
- The upgrade frequency felt slow; there was too much time between meaningful, actionable player improvements.
- Perks were unlocked too slowly to allow for experimentation.”
To address these issues, EA says it has changed the way leveling works, the amount of XP earned, and the amount of XP required to level up. In FIFA 23‘s version of Pro Clubs, players will be able to level up quicker, reach the highest level faster, and unlock all perks within the first 25 of 100 levels. Combined with the shared XP in Volta, that should make Pro Clubs in FIFA 23 much less of a grind than it was in last year’s game.
