BlizzCon's opening ceremonies have also brought us new details and a first look at the new build of Blizzard DOTA, the company's official foray into the genre sparked by the famous Warcraft III mod.
Rather than build its own stable of unique heroes, Blizzard DOTA will instead take the most popular characters from its popular franchises and pit them against one another with a lighthearted, nonsensical story providing the backdrop. Two unnamed gods, one red and one blue, inhabit a remote corner of the universe fighting each other in perpetuity. To help settle their dispute, they've summoned these characters from their various universes. Sure, it's silly, but the promise of having Starcraft's Nova, Warcraft's Arthas, and Diablo III's Witch Doctor going head to head with one another is well worth a bit of nonsense.
There's still no details on when we'll be getting our hands on Blizzard DOTA, but it looks like an entertaining experience for fans of DOTA and Blizzard games alike.
