During BlizzCon's opening ceremony, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime announced that the heavily anticipated Diablo III will be launching with a special collectors edition that includes in-game items, behind the scenes looks, and much more.
The collector's edition, touted by Blizzard as the ultimate fan experience, comes bundled with in-game content for Blizzard's biggest games. Diablo III players will gain access to an exclusive set of aesthtic artifacts, while World of Warcraft subscribers will get an new pet, the Fetish Shaman. In addition, everyone will have access to a new set of Battle.net portraits inspired by Starcraft II.
And those of you who like having physical perks in your special editions won't be hurting either. You'll get a collector's edition soundtrack, a two-disc behind the scenes DVD/Blu-ray combo, an art book, a Diablo skull statuette, and a 4GB USB drive styled to look like one of the game's soulstones. As if that weren't enough, the drive will come preloaded with a free copy of Diablo II.
Blizzard has yet to reveal pricing details for the collector's edition, nor have they announced a final release date for Diablo III, which is scheduled to launch early next year.
