Owners of Warhawk will gain early access to what Lightbox Interactive calls a “private beta” for their upcoming PS3-exclusive game, Starhawk. The offer is open to players in North America and Europe.
According to Dylan Jobe, president of Lightbox, players will receive “special email invites” with beta keys, and will be pulled into the beta to stress test its servers.
“The order in which players are granted access is a dark art known only to Sith-IT-Managers and Gwyn, Lord of Cinder,” said Jobe. “Suffice it to say, it’s a mix of your rank/level in Warhawk, your involvement in the Warhawk community, and a few other magical perimeters.”
Players invited into the beta can share their experiences and provide feedback to the company through a secure forum set up by Sony. Jobe and other Warhawk developers will be interacting with players on the forum.
Besides balancing the server load, players will test out the SkillScore player ranking system, weapon balancing, and help to balance the game in general. The team will also push out updates for the game on a regular basis.
“We’ll be going into more details on which features will be included in the private beta in the coming weeks, but for now, I hope our Warhawk player community is as excited about this opportunity as we are.”
Upon the game’s release, beta participants will receive a gift rewarding them for their efforts.
