Industry sources have told Develop that work has kicked off on games for Sony's next generation console at several of the company's first party studios.
Sony currently owns a total of sixteen studios, including Killzone's Guerrilla Games, Uncharted's Naughty Dog, LittleBigPlanet's Media Molecule and Gran Turismo's Polyphony Digital. According to the report, there's no indication as to which first party studios are the ones at work on next gen games, but it's a promising stable to choose from. With so many hit franchises and successful dev houses under Sony's first party belt, it's likely the PS4 will end up with some heavy hitting launch titles.
Sony has remained tight-lipped about plans for their next home console, and most analysts don't anticipate a launch until at least 2014. Even with the news that some internal development efforts have shifted towards the new console, expect Sony's primary focus to be on the PS3 and the upcoming Vita handheld for a few years yet.
