There seems to be some new information about GTA 6 every week these days (true or not), but today there has been some potential GTA 6 details revealed that will excite fans everywhere. It has been reported that the game will feature a female playable protagonist in its campaign mode for the very first time. The other detail is that Rockstar plans to have the game’s setting in a single city, but with the aim to launch more locations over time through updates.
According to a Bloomberg report on Rockstar, some sources that are very close to the studio have mentioned that the new female character will be a Latina. It seems as if the character will reportedly be one member of a duo of bank robbers in a story influenced by the infamous Bonnie & Clyde.
This is exciting news for the series because female characters have only been playable on GTA Online, but the idea to include a female lead isn’t a new idea because back in 2013 the prospect of this happening was talked about by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser.
The Bloomberg report also mentions that the launch of the game will begin in a fictionalized version of Miami and its surrounding areas (in a similar fashion to that of Vice City). However, the game will not stay this way because Rockstar hopes to incorporate “new missions and cities on a regular basis” through countless updates. The hope is that this launch version will feature more interior locations than any Grand Theft Auto game ever before.
The project is currently running under the guise of “Project Americas” which was related to the original plan to have the game situated in North and South America – this plan has since been scrapped though. These GTA 6 details all sound great and it’s definitely something to be excited about, but when is the release date? Sources close to the studio have said that Rockstar is skeptical about the April 2023 to March 2024 predictions because of several changes to the team. Expect it to be three or more years away though, we’re sorry to say.
