War of the Worlds has gotten a specific XBLA release date: October 26th. PC and PS3 releases will come at a later as-yet unspecified date. Based on the 1953 film (rather than the original text), the game is narrated by actor Patrick Stuart.
I keep expecting to hear ULLA and a Jeff Wayne inspired soundtrack, but I don't suppose you can have everything.
Inspired by retro 2d platformers like Flashback, you'll be forced to hide from Martian enemies and time your movements well. It's already garnered a ton of positive press, with sites praising the graphical presentation and the writing/narration. It's definitely one to pick up if you like artsy platformers in the vein of LIMBO.
