Microsoft have obviously taken recent critisisms of their exclusive line-up to heart, having today announced that they've bought 'Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel. Given that their recent games have all be 360 exclusive any way, this is unlikely to have much of an effect on the end user. Even so, expect an announcement of a new game taking advantage of Microsoft-only tech (i.e Kinect) in the not too distant future .
As with any announcement like this, everybody was quick to say how happy they were and how this is a really positive thing. First, Microsoft's very own Phil Spencer: “Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun, games. Microsoft Studios is home to cutting-edge entertainment experiences, and the incredible creativity of the Twisted Pixel team will help drive further innovation around Kinect and Xbox LIVE.”
Not to be outdone, Michael Wilford, Twisted Pixel CEO, piped up: “It is really exciting for us to solidify our long-standing relationship with Microsoft Studios, who we consider to be the leader in digital distribution and creating new innovations in gaming like Xbox LIVE and Kinect.
“As part of the family of Microsoft Studios we look forward to bringing even bigger and richer experiences to Xbox and Twisted Pixel fans around the world.”
Twisted Pixel are a very good developer so hopefully having increased backing from a major player like Microsoft won't destroy their unique character.
