Rockstar has addressed some changes to its online games today. Firstly, it announced that it’s going to be all but winding down future content developments for Red Dead Online. However, it’s not all bad news, as it also shared the outlook for GTA Online, which looks far more promising than its wild western cousin.
GTA Online has seen its player base boom thanks to the game’s inclusion on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As a result, Rockstar has decided to shift the focus of its development teams towards supporting the Los Santos-based action. This means that fans will be treated to a greater breadth of gameplay improvements and content updates, the latest of which is expected to be coming soon. In a new statement on the official Rockstar website, some of the new update’s features have been revealed.
In just a few short weeks, a new update is coming to GTA Online on all platforms that will expand upon the Criminal Careers of Executive, Biker, Gunrunner, and Nightclub Owner — alongside a set of Contact Missions that presents the opportunity to be sworn in as a special IAA field operative to investigate a budding criminal conspiracy.

In addition to the new careers and missions, GTA Online will also be getting some community-requested content and features. This will form part of an ongoing push to “incorporate more player feedback and other learnings moving forward.” It seems as though when it comes to Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar has been much more open to the community’s feedback than perhaps it was with Red Dead Online. Either way, GTA Online will be getting a lot more attention going forward.
On top of this, Rockstar reveals that there will be better GTA$ payments for players in solo and co-operative modes across the board, in order to encourage players to spend time in the game. With the development of GTA 6 fully in the works, it’s good to see that Rockstar isn’t giving up on GTA Online in the meantime.
