In the official announcement blog over at the SEGA website it's called the best kept secret in gaming this year, and they've got a point. It's been available to pre-order on at least three major digital gaming outlets for some time now, as well as at least a couple of major screw-ups at SEGA, where press releases and blogs have mentioned a mysterious unannounced PC version of Sonic Generations.
And yet, for reasons beyond average human understanding, SEGA still hadn't officially announced the PC version until yesterday, when they confirmed it would support steroscopic 3D and achievements – like its console counterparts – and Steamworks.
This version of the game will be released November 1st in the States, 4th in Europe, with a boxed version available at a later date in Europe.
If nothing else, the constant PC hints (read hints as screw-ups) have gotten people talking about the potential of a PC version and about the game overall, so in this case there is no such thing as bad publicity. Unless you cound the bit where they unveiled a PC version and then said "huh… that? Well… that was a mistake, honestly."
The console version of the game is coming November 4th.
