If you ask the Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu what he thinks about Battlefield in comparison to Call of Duty, well, he says just about what you'd expect him to say. Speaking to Gamasutra in an interview, Liu stated that he felt good to be compared to games like Call of Duty for reasons that are actually somewhat of a backhanded compliment.
"They’re behemoths, and just the notion that we would be able to take a chunk from their gamers is awesome," Patrick explains. "They’re both military shooters, but in terms of flavor and style they’re different. But we offer so much more than they do, I think; but that’s me."
And what would those offerings be? Liu lists the co-op, as well as the destruction, and the Battlelog–which, outside of the destruction, aren't particularly convincing of Battlefield's style. Nor do I really see the point of these 'fighting words,' but whatever!
