The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature launched last November, and we may have some of the first details as to which Xbox 360 games users are playing the most. Rod Fergusson of The Coalition, said this weekend that the four Xbox 360 Gears of War titles were among the nine most popular backwards-compatible games.
He shared this information during the Gears of War ESL finals on Sunday (via DualShockers). He didn’t mention what the other five games are. His comments are most likely based off internal information at Microsoft and its studios. Hopefully, the company will share some of the data with the public, so we can get a better idea of what games people are enjoying most with backwards compatibility.
It’s not surprising that four of the top nine games are from the Gears of War franchise, considering that alongside Halo, it’s one of Microsoft’s biggest properties. Additionally, everyone who bought an initial copy of Gears of War Ultimate Edition received free copies of those four games.
It was also reiterated during the broadcast that Gears of War 4 will come in the fall of this year. Microsoft had already cited a “holiday 2016” release when it officially announced the game last June.
