It's been a long season of AAA release after AAA release, so it's easy to look forward to next spring's slate of independent releases. One of those games is McDroid, an action-packed twist on tower defense.
“You’ll play as a cute little robot named — you guessed it — McDroid,” writes Jakub Mikysa, CEO of Grip Games. “He crash landed on an alien planet and has to defend against countless waves of enemies in order to slowly repair his ship and also heal the planet.” It's like Wall-E if Wall-E could wield a tesla cannon.
The devs pride themselves on the game’s unique, stylized look and its ability to mix action gameplay with tower defense strategy. In McDroid, you get to build various weapons and harvest resources to protect yourself and your ship.
The game toes the line between “cute scenery” and “frantic blood-bath,” as Mikysa puts it, but it’ll be accessible to all types of players.
McDroid will be coming to PS4 in early 2016, although there’s no exact release date yet.
