Do you remember Final Fantasy XV’s Cross-Link system from Episode Duscae 2.0 being in severe need of a fixing? The Final Fantasy team is well aware of these problems.
As unofficially translated, Game Design Section Manager Ken’ichi Shida has revealed that they have improved Cross-Link’s tempo, with more nimble execution. They have also iterated on how to trigger the Cross-Link since the demo. You can expect the final game to feature a completely overhauled Cross-Link.
Final Fantasy team also revealed there are new systems added to allow Noctis to fight with his friends. One is called Slash Link, and one does not even have a name yet. The team is hard at work at improving these systems, as they will serve to be the bread and butter of its co-op party battles.
If you didn’t get a chance to play Episode Duscae 2.0, Cross-Link was added in later, as a sort of QTE double team system. It seems like an interesting way to make battles interactive, emphasizing timing over having to memorize complicated movement systems. However, it was also broken, as many fans can attest to. Don’t take my word for it though, watch the videos below.
Now that you have seen it, do you think Final Fantasy team made the right call in fixing Cross-Link, or do you think they should ditch it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
Final Fantasy XV is planned for release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.
