Konami has confirmed what many suspected: there will be a free-to-play version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2016.
This really come as no surprise because this version was already released in Japan earlier this year, as Winning Eleven 2015 MyClub. This was a more barebones release, as the only modes it had was Training and MyClub itself, which is like a free-to-play Ultimate Team mode. You build your own team under MyClub, and recruit players using points earned from winning matches, or MyClub coins, which you can buy with real money.
There’s at least a bit more added for the Western release. On top of the MyClub and Training modes, it will have a separate main game mode, but with a limited number of teams. Namely, these are: Bayern Munich, Juventus, AS Roma, Brazil, and France.
Still, it is the samePro Evolution Soccer using the incredible FOX Engine, and bringing its own spin to video game football that’s given FIFA a run for its money.
If you would rather make a traditional fully featured purchase, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 is already available for Windows. Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 free-to-play version will be available on December 8 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. For now, there are no plans to release the game on Xbox One, Wii U, or Xbox 360.
