Codemasters, the publisher of many racing games and titles like the recently released Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, has announced that it will be redefining its focus towards its strengths: racing games.
In a recently published statement to Eurogamer, Codemasters revealed that it will be shutting down its Malta studio, which created a mobile card name called Battle Decks. The studio says that sales of Battle Decks and Overlord: Fellowship of Evil failed to meet expectations.
“While it’s been great to explore projects outside of racing, we know that our hearts belong to racing in all its many glorious forms," they said. “The success of Dirt Rally’s Early Access program has been incredible, F1 2015 was very successful reaching number one in many territories.”
The Malta-based branch will be incorporated into their UK offices, which intends to focus on new games within the racing genre.
The studio is currently developing Dirt Rally and Micro Machines.
