The next episode will follow Jesse and friends as they continue on their journey through the Overworld to reunite the Order of the Stone. Like other Telltale games, Minecraft: Story Mode allows players to make choices that affect the narrative’s outcome. However, not all fans are excited about this Minecraft re-imagining.
It’s easier to think of Telltale’s games the way we think of TV episodes rather than standalone games, and as in TV, sometimes it takes a few episodes for a series to gain momentum. In Telltale’s case especially, there has been backlash from prominent members of the community over whether their narrative style makes their products true games – or if they’re basically just movies.
But it’s hard to deny the critical acclaim that their other games, like The Walking Dead, received. Perhaps not all games are well-suited for the Telltale treatment. If you’d like to decide for yourself, check out the official story trailer and consider playing the game.
