Nintendo was ahead of its time when the company first came up with the idea of the Nintendo Direct. This digital presentation allowed them to showcase their upcoming games without needing to have a physical presence, the latter being the industry standard for decades. Today, just about every publisher–big and small–has their own version of a Direct, and the last week alone has showcased how the industry has embraced this trend With the week of streams coming to an end, fans have one question–where’s the new Nintendo Direct?
The last Nintendo Direct was in February, and the company usually has one in June to coincide with E3. Despite Microsoft, Sony, Capcom, and others giving their own presentations over the last week, Nintendo has been incredibly quiet.
Rumors have popped up claiming that a Direct could be coming tomorrow, while others say that it will come later in the month on the 29th. People on Reddit and other social media are debating when a reveal will come, but nothing will take the place of an official announcement.
It would be odd for Nintendo to remain quiet during this part of the year. The company has a large backlog of games set to release during the second half of the year including Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Pokemon Scarlet, and Violet. Third-party titles like Bayonetta 3 and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope could also use some PR.
Until we hear back from Nintendo, we’re just going to have to wait and see.
