While the DCEU as a whole is still very much in a flux state, there are a few movies that we know are coming out soon. Two of them are coming out this year and occupy the same ‘space’– Black Adam, which just got its first trailer, will arrive in October, and Shazam: Fury of the Gods will arrive soon after.
A movie featuring the original Captain Marvel had been in the works for literal years before it was finally handed over to David F. Sandberg, who went to work and made a movie that embraced some of the more classic aspects of Billy Batson while also embracing his rebirth via the New 52 era of the comics as proven by the Vasquez family who appears in the film.
Overall, the first movie had a bit of a contained feel to it, being a typical origin story with Billy trying to understand his powers while fighting off his first villain. On Twitter, Sandberg was asked by a fan about what he could reveal about the upcoming Fury of the Gods film, and Sandberg promises that it’s much bigger than the original movie.
It’s a MUCH bigger movie than the first one. There’s so much stuff that I can’t wait for people to see. I hope they put a lot of it in the trailer. I don’t even care about spoilers, I’m just eager to show off our creatures, action, etc. 🙂 https://t.co/MT1GKperUJ

Sandberg notes that whenever the trailer comes out, he wouldn’t mind if there are key spoilers. He’s just desperate for audiences to see what’s coming next.
The movie is going to feature certain gods and demigods messing with Earth’s Mightiest Mortal, making this one of his biggest tests ever. We’ll have to see what happens when the movie arrives.
