One of the things that has made Batman so great over the various decades of his life is the fact that due to his nature/personality/abilities, and so on, he has gotten a large cast of villains for various writers to play with. And over time, those villains grow to become something even bigger than the original creators intended. Joker, Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn and more come to mind on that front. But one character that many want to take a big leap forward is that of Poison Ivy.
She’s been around in DC Comics for quite some time, but ever since Batman The Animated Series, her role in the eyes of fan has grown more refined, and the fans want DC to take note of that. Mainly, she was one of the ones to truly embrace the LGBTQ+ moniker via her relationship with Harley Quinn (a pairing that truly blossomed via Batman TAS and now the Harley Quinn animated series). But the fans also see her as more of hero (in the right hands) than a villain…which is at odds with what DC Comics likes to do with her in the main comics timeline.
But perhaps in the movies she’ll get the due that fans want. And to that end, a nice piece of fan art for Ivy has come and it actually portrays her via actress Natalie Dormer. You might recognize her from Game of Thrones amongst other series. And not only is the art great, the casting is actually rather inspiring. Because Dormer is known for playing deeper characters, and as Poison Ivy is indeed deep. Plus, no doubt she’ll be a “seductress” in whatever Bat-property she’d be in, and Game of Thrones showed fans she could be that.
It might be wishing thinking right now, but fans really want the best for Ivy, and any version that showcases their version of her is no doubt appreciated.
