While no specific reason has been given, 2K games wrote a brief explanation on the Battleborn website. “We at Gearbox are feeling energized by the data of our Closed Technical Test, and the additional time will allow us to better act on the feedback for Battleborn competitive and cooperative play when it releases,” they wrote. They still plan to have an open beta in 2016.
Battleborn is a cross between an FPS and a MOBA. As previously reported, it takes place in an intergalactic first-person battle arena, and follows a large cast of twenty-five diverse, customizable heroes fighting each other for control of the last star in the universe. But it’s not just a MOBA; it has a complex story.
The official reveal trailer was unveiled over a year ago to mostly positive feedback from Gearbox fans. The February release date was announced in August at Gamescom 2015. Gearbox has also released trailers profiling the heroes and central villain of the game.
The game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
