Square Enix must be feeling pretty confident about their new and improved battle system in Final Fantasy XIII-2, yesterday they announced that the first DLC for their latest sequel will include a boss fight with Omega. We’ve seen Omega before in previous entries of the series and, if you’re anything like me, your hit points will significantly drop just thinking about the state he left you in.
So far this is a Japanese-only announcement, but I think it’s unlikely that we’ll never see this considering it involves a series staple. Included in the pack will be costumes for Noel and Serah, as well as the ability to hire Omega into your party by collecting his crystal (like other enemies in the game).
It’s difficult to judge how a new enemy will sit with those that dislike DLC, that’s dependant on cost. If the attitude of Square lately is anything to go by, someone in a position of power will see that they’ve got everything to lose in releasing XIII-2 and will pick a sensible price point.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be unleashed on Japanese soil December 15th this year.
