Get ready to relive your childhood with this brand new gameplay footage from Ratchet & Clank. The next installment in the franchise will re-imagine the characters' origins and modernize a lot of the original game's features. It's exactly what you would want from a PS2 game's transition to the PS4. But don't worry, it's not just going to be a recycled version of the original game; this iteration will have new planets and new bosses to fight.
The footage shows our eponymous heroes making their way through the planet Pokitaru and includes both underwater and aerial fights. There's a glorious homage to Star Fox at 2:19, and you can probably guess what it is. Feedback from fans has been mostly positive, though everyone was a little disappointed when Insomniac confirmed that the classic soundtrack would not be used in this new version.
To tie in with the upcoming game, there will be a Ratchet & Clank movie in April 2016 that will feature all of the characters we know and love, including Captain Qwark and Chairman Drek. While there is no official release date for the game, it's reasonable to expect that it will be out early 2016 as well. Of course, Ratchet & Clank will be a PS4 exclusive — sorry, Xbox fans.
