BattleTech Kickstarter Raises Over $2 Million

October 30, 2015 by Olga Lexell

The turn-based RPG is making a comeback.

With four days to go, Harebrained Schemes has raised over $2 million to Kickstart a new BattleTech game. That doesn't even include the over $50,000 they've raised through PayPal. Over 450 backers have contributed to the game's campaign, with multiple people donating large sums of $10,000 each.

While that sum is impressive, it's not surprising given how well-orchestrated the whole campaign has been and the immense appetite for a new BattleTech among its dedicated fans. But Harebrained Schemes has set a standard based on how they've succeeded in engaging their fanbase through weekly backer missions and rewards that all help promote the game.

The team gave out rewards and access to exclusives like e-novellas to those who were willing to promote the campaign on social media. This is the fourth successful Kickstarter campaign from the company.

The game is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2017 and will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux.
