Speaking at Sony’s PlayStation media briefing at Paris Games Week, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Shuhei Yoshida took to the stage to announce a PlayStation VR exclusive, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood.
Details on the sequel to this year’s PlayStation 4 exclusive Until Dawn were slim other than the fact that like its predecessor, it is being developed by Supermassive Games. Unlike its predecessor, however, Rush of Blood is being built from the ground up for PlayStation VR. It is unknown if the game is playable without PlayStation VR, but given Yoshida’s language, calling Rush of Blood an exclusive title for PlayStation VR, it stands to reason that this will only be playable with Sony’s virtual reality headset.
Until Dawn was originally announced for PlayStation 3 as a PlayStation Move-supported title. The game was eventually repurposed for PlayStation 4, scrapping Sony PlayStation’s motion-based controller completely. Supermassive’s history with PlayStation’s proprietary peripherals lends credence to their ability to develop a game from the ground up for PlayStation’s latest gadget.
Until Dawn was released in August this year and received generally positive reviews and sold well, despite Sony’s lack of advertising and marketing surrounding the title.
