Unmet Steam Key Promises Forces Developer to intervene.

October 21, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

DotEmu revealed they were not even aware of the arrangement but they would be honoring it.

Little Big Adventure developer and publisher DotEmu had to intervene after customers complained they weren’t getting Steam keys they were promised.

As DotEmu explained it, the reasons this happened to some gamers was tenuous and unfortunate. Another party sold Little Big Adventure1 as part of a gaming bundle under Groupees last August. They were promised they would be receiving Steam keys as soon as the game got ported.

Fast forward to a few days ago, and fans have chimed in on the official Steam page to point out these promises remained unmet. Some mentioned that they also bought a Groupee bundle which promised Little Big Adventure 2. You can see a screenshot of the bundle with the promise of Steam keys below (click to see full size).

DotEmu explained that they were not aware of the deal, and at the time the bundle was made, they did not have plans to go to Steam to release Little Big Adventure Enhanced Edition.

As you can see in this earlier response, Little Big Adventure Enhanced Edition does have significant improvements, so DotEmu’s course of action should please inconvenienced customers.

DotEmu has made arrangements with Groupees to release Steam keys for both games. Even if you only bought one of the games, you will get them both. Furthermore, they have explained that all customers who buy Little Big Adventure Enhanced Edition gets the original game for free.

Unfortunately, an incident like this happened with a Groupees bundle before. The situation was not handled as deftly by this other developer, but there is one uniting factor; both games were sold under Groupees bundles, with Steam keys promised before they could be delivered.

Have you faced similar situations with Steam keys and bundles before? Did you get Steam keys eventually or not? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
