It’s never easy saying goodbye to something you love. But even worse to many is having to say goodbye to something that never really got to finish its story. Which is sadly something that the Arrowverse is dealing with for the first time ever across three of its shows. Previously, if one of their shows were ending, they’d get a “final season” like with what happened with Black Lightning or Supergirl so that they could resolve everything and leave the future open to potential return. But for Legends of Tomorrow, Batman, and Naomi, that didn’t happen. And now fans are asking The Flash to save one of them.
And by that, we don’t mean having the show itself returned (in this case Legends of Tomorrow) due to how unlikely that is at this point, but rather, given that the Legends are being held for “time crimes”, they want the actual Flash to come and save them so that they can get a proper ending.
This might seem like an “easy fix”, but as The Flash showrunner noted to TV Line…it’s anything but for the most basic of reasons…
“I don’t even know what my order is,” Wallace said, referring to the number of episodes in Season 9. “Going to save the Legends… as much as I’d love to do that, that’s not something that is very easy to do in a season when I may have to wrap up my own story. I want to be honest, and not get anybody’s hopes up.”
He’s speaking of how Flash Season 9 is likely going to be the last of the series, and he wasn’t even guaranteed to get that given how things are going with the potential CW buyout and the “death of the Arrowverse”. So while LOT fans may feel they have a “perfect way” to fix things…rarely is it that simple.
