Previous Call of Duty games had various difficulties ranging from difficult to really, really hard. Black Ops 3 will see the introduction of an all new difficulty mode called "Realistic."
True to its name, the Realistic difficulty will be harder, and a whole lot more frustrating than anything you've ever experienced by making it so that a single shot will kill you or anyone else playing with you in the game's cooperative campaign.
Speaking to Xbox Achievements, Treyarch's Jason Blundell said:
"[In Realistic] you have one point of life, so if you're shot once, you're dead. It completely changes the way you play the game. You all have to survive as a group. You end up respecting the level in a completely different way, and once gunfire opens up, everyone just drops to the ground, because if any one bullet hits you or a grenade goes off near you, you're dead.”
In addition to the new mode, the game's AI has been completely rewritten from the ground-up to "make independent decisions." So don't expect the bad guys to run into your machine gun fire this time around.
"We have more types of AI than we've ever had before," said Blundell.
It's unknown whether enemies will also die in one shot, or whether they'll turn into bullet sponges. We'll see.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is due for release on November 6, 2015.
