Hyrule Warriors Legends is adding in two highly requested characters from the Legend of Zelda canon. From Majora’s Mask, we finally get the Skull Kid, and from the Wind Waker, Phantom Ganon.
Skull Kid was a cute costume for Lana in the first Hyrule Warriors, but his original spooky self will be playable in Hyrule Warriors Legends. The kid fights with an ocarina, and has two fairies with him, whom he calls Chat and Trail. We don’t quite know if the Kid has all his powers, but it sure would be fun to fight him to recruit him.
On the other hand, Phantom Ganon seems to be one of the bosses. While it could mean he could be playable in non-canon modes, he seems set up to be quite a good boss fight. Ganon fights with his giant bird form as well.
Hyrule Warriors Legends introduces a new system called Smash Boost Power. When you use abilities like Player Change and Ocarina Warp, you can call for as many as four characters to fight the boss. Depending on how many characters you get, you can recover your magic meter and receive other extra effects.
Lastly, there will be a new stage, also from the Wind Waker.
Hyrule Warriors Legends will release in Japan on January 21, 2016 for 3DS, and early 2016 for North America and Europe. Check out a gallery of screenshots below.
