With the reveal trailer closing in on 30 million views on YouTube, it’s safe to say that Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most highly-anticipated games in recent memory. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has recently begun dropping more and more details about the game, leading many to remain hopeful that a 2022 release is possible. The newest peek at the open-world title comes in the form of a gameplay trailer, which highlights the “next-gen immersion” of the PlayStation 5 version.
Check out the trailer below:
Players purchasing the game for the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X will both be able to enjoy 4K visuals, but the trailer dives more into what PS5 owners can experience exclusively. It’s no surprise that the DualSense controller will play a big part in immersing players in the world of Hogwarts, starting with one’s house color being represented by the controller’s light bar.
“The PlayStation 5’s DualSense wireless controller becomes an extension of your wand in Hogwarts Legacy,” Avalanch Software community manager Chandler Wood details on the PlayStation Blog. “With so many spells at your disposal, the adaptive triggers allow for more flexibility in combat. You’ll feel the magical resistance at your fingertips through every spell, whether firing off a basic cast or summoning the strength for a more powerful charm.”
Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will also come into play while flying a hippogriff, crushing ingredients in potions class, and more.
The game will also incorporate Tempest 3D AudioTech for top-tier sound quality. Players will be able to choose between Fidelity and Performance graphics modes.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. No release date has been specified, though the presentation indicates that Legacy will release this holiday season. The game is being published under Warner’s Portkey Games label and was originally scheduled to be released in 2021.
