Earlier this month, IO Interactive announced that the upcoming Hitman would be delayed to March 2016 due to its scope. Today, the studio has revealed that the game will be released on March 11, 2016.
Upon its release, players will have access to three locations and six campaign missions in Paris, Marrakesh and Sapienza. They'll also be able to assassinate 800 targets in the game's Contract mode.
The studio intends to release new Contracts every week, with creations from the community. These targets will have to be dispatched within a set time limit.
Additionally, the studio plans to release a new sandbox location every month from April to June, each with new weapons, missions, disguises, and Contracts.
The first of these releases is Thailand, which will be out in April. The United States will be added in May, and Japan will drop in June.
Players who purchase the game at its full price of $59.99 will gain access to the beta. This applies to both PS4 and PC versions of the game. All future content for the game is included.
Those who prefer to pay $34.99 for an introductory pack will get the base content. They can pick up the additional Thailand, US, and Japan content in an upgrade pack for $29.99.
It's a weird new model, but the intro pack will give players who are unfamiliar with the Hitman franchise a chance to play the game for less.
