Courtesy of YouTuber TheNinjaSpooky, you can watch over an hour of Naruto Storm 4 footage. You can subscribe to him on YouTube here.
All this footage comes from Gamescom 2015, and it gives us a better idea of how gameplay will feel. As you can tell, Naruto fighting games are high in presentation, but are not necessarily as strategic, as, say, Street Fighter, or even Super Smash Bros.
It’s not that there’s no good gameplay to be found. You can jump, rotate around the screen, use trick evades that move you out of the way completely, etc. Combos are deemphasized since evasions are easier.
Naruto Storm 4 is about controlling space, but this is full 3D space so there aren’t as many opportunities to pin your opponent.
More than anything else, Naruto Storm 4 rewards good reaction, but you are not necessarily incentivized to finish matches quickly, esp if you see how long these fights can take. Instead, you’ll want to focus on getting into the groove, and once you get there, to keep your attacks going.
Among the playable characters you will see in this footage are The Last Naruto the Movie forms of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Hinata along with Hanabi, Neji, Kakashi, Six Paths Obito, Six Paths Madara, Six Paths Sage Mode Naruto, Rinne Sharingan Sasuke, and Byakugou Sakura.
Naruto Storm 4 will be released on February 4, 2016, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows.
