Mass Effect 1 & 2 lead writer Drew Karpyshyn has returned to developer BioWare.
Karpyshyn made the announcement on his blog, where he wrote, "A few years ago I left BioWare to focus on my Chaos Born novels, but now that the trilogy is finished, I’ve decided to come back into the fold."
He doesn't provide details on what he'll be doing exactly, but does confirm that he isn't involved with any unannounced projects. Instead, Karpyshyn will be working on Star Wars: The Old Republic.
"I suspect a lot of folks are going to wonder if this means BioWare is about to announce a new project tied to my return," he commented. "The short answer: no. I originally came to the Austin studio many years ago to work on SWTOR and – at least for now – that’s what I’m focusing on again."
Aside from the first two Mass Effects, he's also worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire at BioWare. He left the studio in 2012 and while he was originally involved with Mass Effect 3, the story changed significantly following his departure from the project to work on SWTOR at BioWare Austin.
